KIDS GO GREEN IN THE MALL FOR FUNDAY SUNDAY!

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

back-to-schoolLocal children were getting ready for school last weekend at The Mall Luton, by decorating their very own 100% cotton pencil case in the latest Funday Sunday kids club.

Children got to meet the Mall Monster, The Mall Luton’s friendly mascot, and received a complimentary eco-friendly gift: a wooden safari animal pen, perfect to start the new academic year with.

“During this month’s Funday Sunday activity we wanted to give children the chance to create something green, which they could take back to school with them,” commented Lavinia Holland, Marketing Manager of The Mall Luton. “The pencil cases were great, not only were they made of fair trade cotton, but is one less thing for parents to pay out for at this expensive time of year.”

These activities are part of The Mall’s regular Funday Sunday kids’ club. Funday Sundays are FREE for children to participate in, and take place at The Mall Luton on the last Sunday of every month.

Ends.

Over 100 Toy Story inspired children carved potatoes and other vegetables at The Mall Luton last weekend as they sculpted their very own veg-tastic Mr Potato heads in the latest Funday Sunday Kids Club.

With celery stick arms, broccoli hair and cabbage skirts, there were many varieties of potato people among the creations - and even the Mall Monster helped some children piece together their characters.

“All the children were very excited about making their own versions of Mr Potato Head,” says Lavinia Holland, Marketing Manager for The Mall Luton. “The children, and even some of the parents, helped make some brilliant creations! We hope to see them all again next month for more activities, and would also welcome any newcomers!”

Funday Sundays occur on the last Sunday of each month between 11am and 4pm and is free for all children to participate. At the next event on Sunday 29th August, children will be decorating 100% cotton pencil cases in time to go back to school.

LUTON KIDS GO MAD FOR MAD HATTER HATS AND EASTER BONNETS AT THE MALL LUTON

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

easter-bonnet-worn-by-frey-white-3-years-olda1Spring is officially here! In true Luton style, local children are being invited to take part in a special Mad Hatter and Easter Bonnet workshop to celebrate the fact that Easter is on its way.

The event, which is completely free, is the third Funday Sunday Kids’ Club held at The Mall Luton. It will take place on the 28th March between 11am and 4pm and all children are welcome to join in the fun.

Luton, the home of the ‘Hatters’ and famous for its international hat trade, has always been at the cutting-edge of hat design. And there are sure to be some wonderful millinery creations in The Mall Luton on the 28th March! Every child will get the opportunity to create a funky hat to wear home or to give away as a fabulous Easter present. The workshop will take place at Melson Square (outside Mothercare) and the first 100 children to arrive will receive a complimentary gift from the Mall Monster.

Over 350 children have enjoyed the Funday Sunday events in The Mall Luton so far this year. With Easter just around the corner, and this month’s theme also including the much anticipated Alice in Wonderland film, children should have plenty of inspiration to create hats and bonnets that early (and existing) Luton hat makers would be proud of.

“Luton is very proud to be the home of the millinery trade,” Says Lavinia Holland, Marketing Manger for the Mall Luton.”So we are very excited about this month’s Funday Sunday Kids’ Club. Judging by the success of the clubs in January and February, I think children will love it - as it involves dressing up and being creative! It is always lovely to see the children take home something they have made themselves which they are really proud of.”

Every child can pick up a free “Stamp Me” loyalty card if they have not been to the club before. This loyalty card lists the dates and theme of every Funday Sunday Kids’ Club in 2010 and tells children what they will be making at each session - so they can look forward to more fun throughout the year.

The next Funday Sunday Kids’ Club event will take place on April 25th 2010 and will be dedicated to celebrating the new Robin Hood film by making Robin Hood hats and Maid Marion crowns!

Ends.
